Barbero the Episcopal Vicar of Hyderabad knocked at the convent door of the Sisters of St. Ann in Turin, unveiling God’s greatest miracle of carrying the Sisters of St. Ann of Providence to the Indian soil. The Bishop displayed the map of India and spoke with burning zeal of the great need of sisters in his large Diocese.
Mother Enrichetta Dominici, the Superior General felt in her heart the deep and long cherished desire to send missionaries to India. She felt that it was God’s answer to her desire and prepared the first six missionaries to be sent to educate the poor girls in Secunderabad, India.
The proposed expedition was on 10 December 1870. After a long voyage by sea on 19 February 1879 they landed on the Indian soil. After spending three days in Bombay they set off for Gulbarga and from there, urged by the desire to get to the new field of mission in Secunderabad, they continued their journey by bollock cart .
